São três as gravações inéditas incluídas na primeira coletânea póstuma do R.E.M. (1980-2011), grupo que anunciou seu fim na última quarta-feira, 21 de setembro de 2011. As músicas We All Go Back to Where We Belong, A Month of Saturdays e Hallelujah foram gravadas este ano pelo trio sob a batuta do produtor Jacknife Lee na cidade natal do trio norte-americano - Athens, na Georgia - após o lançamento do 15º e derradeiro álbum de estúdio da banda, Collapse Into Now (2011). Nas lojas a partir de 14 de novembro, a compilação dupla R.E.M. Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982–2011 tem 40 faixas. Eis as músicas:

Como em quase todo 'Best Of' que (não) se preze, muita música boa ficou excluída. Mas nada que não seja perdoável quando se está diante de uma banda com um currículo tão vasto e invejável. Fiquei mais impressionado com o fato de terem incluído 4 faixas de Green (Stand, Pop Song 89, Get Up e Orange Crush) e terem deixado de fora faixas importantes de Monster (Crush With Eyeliner, Tongue, Bang and Blame), New Adventures in Hi-Fi (E-Bow Letter, The Wake-Up Bomb), Up (Lotus, Daysleeper) e Reveal (All The Way To Reno, I'll Take The Rain).
Gostaria também que as músicas de diferentes fases tivessem sido misturadas de forma inteligente.
